A TRIP TO CALPE TO BED DOWN AT LA MURALLA ROJA
When I'm in Europe sourcing I always try to visit as many galleries, museums, private houses and architecturally significant buildings as I can. The general rule is if they are within a 100km vicinity of a fair or market that I am attending, I will always add on an extra day so that I have time to visit. Last year I made an exception to this rule and travelled to Calpe in Spain (more than 1500km's away from the fair I was attending in Italy), to spend two nights in the incredible La Muralla Roja. This architectural masterpiece is a postmodern apartment complex and was designed by Spanish architect Ricardo Bofill in 1968 and fully constructed by 1973. Thanks to Airbnb you can rent apartments in this complex which is the only way to freely explore the building and it's grounds and truly appreciate what an incredible and iconic example of architecture this building represents
